Self-Portrait vs "Selfie"

     I have always thought there a was a huge difference between self-portraits and selfies but I never really thought about what those differences were. These articles helped me clearly see the differences. I think the main difference between them is the amount of time and effort that goes into each.

     I think a selfie is a picture of yourself that you take to capture a moment. Not very much time or effort goes into a selfie. When you take a selfie you don't set up a backdrop or spend time picking the right camera settings. Selfies are taken in the moment so you can look back at it later and remember what you were doing. If you don't like a selfie you can easily delete it and take a new one.

     I think a self-portrait is a well thought out picture of yourself that shows a deep and meaningful part of you. When you take a self-portrait you take time to set up your background, camera angles, camera settings, etc. A lot of thought goes into a self-portrait. Self-portraits don't always have to be obvious and they often show a deeper meaning.
